My newest piece. I really find the process of cutting, placing and stitching all those small silk shapes very meditative. It will be hung at Mitchell Giddings Fine Art gallery in Brattleboro,VT which is opening in its new beautiful space this Friday evening!
Finally finished! It’s a larger piece than usual for me but I really loved the process of working on this (not always the case!). The creating flowed and the niggling voice of self doubt stayed quiet.
The Possibilities are Endless More info about this piece here.
Today I shipped four pieces to Belgium to be part of the exhibition, “Matters of Concern” at La Verriere gallery in Brussels!

I was thrilled to be invited by Guillaume Desanges, an art critic and curator from Paris, to be included. The show opens on April 27th and will run till July 6th.
This new piece evolved from a large charcoal sketch drawn during a life drawing class to this layered exploration of our interconnectedness with the world. My fascination with our relationship with billions of microbial fellow travelers was a huge influence! Again, I highly recommend the book, I Contain Multitudes by Ed Yong.
Doing a more figurative piece is a new stretch for me. I’d welcome some feedback!
In conjunction with my solo show last fall at Mitchell-Giddings FIne Art gallery, I gave an artist talk jointly with fellow fiber artist, Jackie Abrams. If you’re interested, here’s a link to the full talk. I cover a lot of ground! Including my inspiration, materials and techniques.
I’m happy to share that I’m now being represented online by American Artwork. I encourage you to check out their beautifully curated site. I’ll also be part of their upcoming print edition of new art work.
I was contacted by Rebeca Schiller, editor of visually sumptious Hand/Eye magazine to be interviewed for an article titled “Invented Biology”about my art. I think she did a really good job of coherently conveying why and what I do from my oftentimes meandering answers. I’m grateful for this opportunity. I encourage you to check it out as well as taking a look at this beautiful, interesting online publication. Beneath II

I’m digging through my stash, rediscovering some buried pieces of lovely silk I dyed and putting together a group of little creations. These 10″ x 10″ pieces will be mounted onto 12″ square black gallery wrapped canvas. I’m hoping to create at least eight and they all will be available at the upcoming Brattleboro West Arts annual first weekend of December show.More on that later!
Working at such a small scale gives me space to play with new ideas. Like did you know that embroidery thread can be curled on the edge of a scissor blade -like ribbon on a present??
