I was sent a link to a collection of beautiful images from the book, Portraits of the Mind-Visualizing the Brain by Carl Schoonover, a neuroscientist (Thanks, Bennett!). You can see them here. And here’s a taste:

Wow! Right? Of course the colors are created by various dye techniques to highlight different functions.

My favorite image: a real photo of rows of square structures inside a mouse brain neuron. Each square processes touch signals from an individual whisker.  I love just thinking about that.
